The Continental was a business owned by Fizz Astaire in Little Italy, New York City.
History[]
The Continental was a nightclub run by Fizz Astaire, who paid protection money the Cuneo crime family in Little Italy. It was famous in the whole neighborhood, as a result the Cuneos refused to run any rackets out of it.
It was seen as a neutral ground, as such even rival family enforcer Johnny Trapani considered it one of his favourite nightspots. The Cuneos also had placed heavy defences in and around it to avoid it being taken over by others.
Aldo Trapani later took over the club for the Corleone crime family and forced Astaire to protection money to them instead. In the 1950s, the Corleones allowed one of their most trusted associates to sell the 'Black Widow' revolver here for $300,000 dollars.
