The title of this article is a nickname.

"Who the hell are you to come and give me orders? Watch out or I'll kick your Sicilian ass right into the street!"
"Do me this favor. I won't forget it. Ask your friends in the neighborhood about me. They'll tell you I know how to return a favor.

Signor Roberto was a landlord in Hell's Kitchen, and one of the first people to encounter Vito Corleone's persuasive style of reasoning.

Roberto was one of the many Italians who was made wealthy by the American Dream and had become a good husband and father, but the pressure of owning several tenament blocks in run-down Hell's Kitchen had 'worn his nerves down to a frazzle'. He evicted Anita Colombo from her flat for keeping a noisy yet much-loved dog that disturbed the neighbours. Upset and unwilling to move from her family, Colombo went to her friend Carmela Corleone, who asked her husband Vito to do something about the situation.

Vito's persuasion

Vito asked Roberto to allow Colombo back in, but the landlord refused, saying that he already had new tenantsand even agreed to pay several months rent in advance for her, but the landlord refused, saying he already had new tenants. After handing him an advance on the rent difference, Vito suggested that Roberto ask around the neighborhood about him and reconsider.

"I hope I'm not disturbing you, Don Vito."
"What can I do for you, Don Roberto?

The next day, Roberto returned, having learnt the truth about Vito Corleone from his friends, and how he murdered Don Fanucci, after he refused to be reasonable. In his eagerness to avoid any trouble, Roberto not only returned the advance but allowed Signora Columbo to stay — with her dog — at a lower rate than before. He then fled the neighborhood, likely to The Bronx.

Behind the scenes

In the The Godfather novel, Roberto is described as a Northern Italian while in The Godfather Part II he states that he is from Calabria.
