Santino "Chip" Corleone, Jr. was son of Sonny Corleone and his wife Sandra, brother of Kathy, Frank and Francesca Corleone, and half brother of Vincent Mancini.
Biography[]
Initially known as Tino, in the early 1950s, Santino refused to be called anything other than Chip.[1] Shortly before the family moved to Nevada, he cracked the skull of a classmate with his thermos after being called a name at school.
He was not known to have had anything to do with the family business, eventually becoming a dentist.
Behind the Scenes[]
- In a deleted scene of The Godfather Part II, Michael asks how he is doing in football.
- In Dean Riesner's draft of The Godfather Part III, Santino was involved in the family business and was gravely injured in a firebombing of the Corleone mall in Long Beach by a rival family, receiving first degree burns over two thirds of his body.
- In the 1989 draft of the script, a passing reference is made to him becoming a dentist a nicknaming himself "Sandy."
