Salvatore Giuliano and his band.
Salvatore Giuliano's band was a group of bandits that controlled much of Northwestern Sicily during the late 1940s. They were led by legendary bandit Salvatore Giuliano, who was seen as a Robin Hood by the peasants. Their homebase was the town of Montelepre, although the band mainly operated from their camp in the nearby mountains. After the death of Giuliano and the capture of his right-hand man Gaspare Pisciotta in 1950 the band dispersed.
