- "We'll make sure this guy gets what he deserves."
- ―Ronaldo Manning[src]
Ronaldo Manning was the Irish internal affairs investigator in the New York Police Department (NYPD) who was suspicious of Police sergeant Ferriera, a cop in his service who was often violent and used mob connections to assist his work. He led an investigation against the sergeant for his police brutality and helping Aldo Trapani, a mobster of the Corleone family. He was quick to suspect Ferriera of the death of Judge Tyrone Bloom and warned the Sergeant of any future activities, putting him under tight surveillance.
Ferriera began to see Manning as a threat, and had Trapani visit him at the site of a road accident. Trapani wrestled with him, pushed him under a nearby water-flow, and let him drown. After Manning's death, Ferriera felt confident enough to move in the streets again.
