Robert Towne is an American screenwriter and director.
Biography[]
Born in San Pedro, Los Angeles, Towne was the unofficial "script doctor" for The Godfather, and wrote the final scene between Vito Corleone and Michael. For this he received a mention in Coppola's Oscar acceptance speech.
Towne has become renowned for his work on films such as Chinatown and Mission: Impossible as well as several television projects.
