Raf Vallone was an Italian actor from Calabria.
Biography[]
Vallone began as a soldier and the cultural editor for L'Unita newspaper, before becoming a film critic. He began an international film career after starring in Riso Amaro with Vittorio Gassman. In 1970, he was one of many actors considered for the role of Vito Corleone.
In 1990, he portrayed Cardinal Lamberto, the future Pope in The Godfather Part III. Vallone died of a heart attack in Rome in 2002.

- Vallone portrayed Joseph Bonanno in the made for TV movie Honor Thy Father. Bonanno is believed to be one of the models for Vito Corleone.
