The Order of Saint Sebastian was an honor granted to Michael Corleone. Archbishop Gilday had recommended Michael for the knighthood, which was approved by Pope Paul VI. Unofficially and in actuality, Gilday had showered Michael with the honor in thanks for bailing him out of the scandal with Immobilaire. Officially, Michael was awarded knighthood in the order out of the Vatican's appreciation for his charity.
