k.d. (Kathryn Dawn) Lang is a Canadian singer/songwriter and occasional actress.

Making the decision to become a musician after finishing secondary school, she co-founded "The Reclines" in 1983 and they recorded their first single soon after. In 1984, she performed at the World Science Fair and earned the Juno Award for Most Promising Female Vocalist in 1985 and gained larger recognition after performing at the Winter Olympics. She provided songs for films including Licence to Kill and Home on the Range and continues to make albums to this day.

Lang also appeared in a number of television and films including Salmonberries, Kotzebue and Eye of the Beholder.
