Joe Vesuvius was a Barzini family soldato.

Biography

A respectful and calm businessman, Joe Vesuvius was known for his relaxed attitude towards business, but was known to have a violent streak reserved for anyone who messes with his affairs at the Saint Elia Warehouse in Brooklyn. He ran an explosives racket that delivered explosives from the warehouse to various storage spaces across Little Italy, Midtown and Hell's Kitchen.

Vesuvius was known to have collaborated with the Tattaglia family when they kidnapped Tom Hagen, which put him on the Corleone family's enemy list. For this, he was muscled into giving the Corleones a cut of the action in 1951; an action that effectively crushed the Barzinis' hold on Brooklyn.
