Gianni Russo is an Italian-American actor, singer and entrepreneur.

Born Louis Giovanni Russo in 1943, he received his role as Carlo Rizzi by acting as intermediary between Francis Ford Coppola and the Italian Anti-Defamation League, secretly controlled by crime boss, Joe Colombo.[1] He later appeared in The Godfather Part II in the final flashback scene.

Russo then went on to appear in several other moves, including Any Given Sunday and The Freshman, as well as releasing his own successful album. On a darker note, he has also received a charge of justifiable homicide for shooting a mass murderer in self defence.

Behind the scenesEdit

During the beatdown of Carlo Rizzi by Sonny Corleone, as depicted in The Godfather, Russo, received two cracked ribs and a chipped elbow for his efforts.[2]
