Edward 'Ed' Falco is an award-winning playwright, poet and author.


Falco grew up as a Catholic in Brooklyn, New York. His novels include Saint John of the Five Boroughs, Wolf Point, A Dream with Demons and Winter in Florida, as well as a collection of short stories. He is also the author of The Family Corleone.

He currently lives in Blacksburg, Virginia, where he is the director of Virginia Tech's MFA program, and he edits The New River, an online journal of digital writing.


  • Falco is the uncle of Edie Falco, an Emmy-winning actress who starred as Carmela Soprano in the The Sopranos.
  • The Virginia Tech shooter, who killed 32 people in 2007, was one of his students.
