Dutch Schultz (born Arthur Flegenheimer) was a New York City-area German-Jewish American mobster of the 1920s and 1930s.

Biography[]

He made his fortune in organized crime-related activities such as bootlegging alcohol and the numbers racket. His operation ran out of The Bronx and also gained a foothold in Upper Manhattan, notably Harlem, where Schultz controlled the numbers racket. He was gunned down in 1935 by Murder, Inc. because he attempted to kill a politician without permission.
