Charles Blühdorn was a Vienna Austrian-born American industrialist and owner of Gulf+Western, a conglomerate that bought Paramount Pictures in 1966.
Biography[]
As president of Paramount Pictures, Bluhdorn oversaw the production of The Godfather and The Godfather Part II. Charles Blühdorn felt strongly about developing the Dominican Republic as a movie-making site and as a result of his connections with the Dominican government the Cuba scenes in Part II where shot there. The Godfather Part III is dedicated to his memory.
